This year The Salvation Army will be running the
'Adopt a Family' program that we run in many communities around the
country. This provides opportunities for individuals and groups to make
Christmas an extra special time for a family in need in the community.
If you would like to sponsor a family this Christmas simply contact The Salvation Army at 778-0515 or reception@swiftcurrentarmy.com What a sponsor family does is puts together a nice hamper for a family at Christmas. Just let us know what size of family you would like to sponsor and The Salvation Army has lists available of what we would suggest goes into the hamper. This is a wonderful opportunity to help make a family's life a little nicer at Christmas time. The Salvation Army in this community has been blessed to be involved in this ministry for quite sometime. We have really appreciated the support and encouragement and participation of the people in the area. The Salvation Army, from our food bank ministry and our Christmas programs from past years, has a detailed database of who is in need in our community. We also provide an opportunity for families to apply for Christmas hampers. If we all work together then we can make sure that every family in need gets a little extra something this Christmas but if we do not coordinate our efforts unfortunately some families will inevitably fall through the cracks as others (by accident or design) wind up receiving two or three hampers from different organisations.
If you would to sign up to adopt-a-family, let me
know and I will send you the list as to the minimum requirements for the
hampers both food and toys - the maximum is up to you!
